I can’t say that I’m a powerful Twitter user but I know that I have lots of benefits from Twitter and actually I’m using the full power of Twitter to drive traffic to my websites and socialize with people. When I first signed up for a Twitter account I was very confused and also was amazed to see that I can follow tons of people, people that actually don’t know me and also have no similar interests.

I thought that if I follow lots of people I will also get lots of followers and with lots of followers of course lots of traffic. Fortunately, Twitter is a smart tool that doesn’t allow you to do everything you want and create chaos. Like Google, Twitter is searching only for high quality content and people. Think what will happend if you have lots of followers but none of them have the same interests as you. That will create the chaos I was speaking earlier. You will post updates and people that follow you(with no interests in your industry area) have no idea about what you are tweeting about and of course they will not read your tweets and you will get no RT and no clicks on your URLs.

Twitter has started an online social revolution so everybody started to tweet on daily basis and lots of content was generated by Twitter and related websites. That’s why, new advertising programs emerged like mushrooms after a good rain. Many advertising networks are pretty powerful and they actually help Twitter users to generate some income, but you must be aware because there are even more scam ones.

Why people follow tons of people on twitter and they actually spam? It’s pretty easy actually. Because of the high number of advertising networks that were created, people are now very motivated to tweet a lot and many of them don’t even realize when they are actually spamming. I say this because I was like that and  actually that wasn’t long ago…

There are two ways to make money with Twitter

1. Direct ways

– Posting ads on their twitter updates.

Like I said before, twitter advertising programs are more and more popular and it seems like everyone is interested in joining this kind of programs and make some easy money.

2. Indirect ways

– Driving traffic to their websites or blogs.

Twitter can be a great way to get more visitors and high quality free traffic and as you know website traffic is equal with money.

I am always interested in testing new things, and making money with twitter was definitely one of the coolest things. Thinking about how easy and fun it will be I decided to join the TwitterFollower.com community. TwitterFollower is a website owned by John Chow (the famous internet entrepreneur) that allows it’s users to follow others and also to add themselves into the list and get more twitter followers in actual no-time.

So, I got over 2000 followers (not a huge followers list, but a decent one) and I start adding Twitter Ads and then surprise! I got no actual clicks! In more than 2 weeks I’ve got $0,20–$0,30. I was very dissapointed and then I realized that Twitter is based on same idea as Google and an old saying that in this case is – less but high quality.

It is clear to you now that I wasn’t getting any clicks on the ads because I had nobody interested in my twitter updates and no faithful follower. Don’t get me wrong! I had more than 2000 followers, but either of them was interested in my area so it was equal with zero.

Getting famous using Twitter

This is probably the second idea of a twitter user after making money by posting regular updates on his Twitter profile. People believe that will get famous by getting tons of followers and by getting into any kind of discussion.

To succed in both of these is not impossible but you have to associate your Twitter Profile to your website and build it with style. You have to be dedicated to this work and the benefits will be there faster than you might think.

How to build a successful Twitter account that will be famous and will bring me money?

Is easy and is true for building a website too. The key to succed in building a Twitter account, a website, blog or anything is to bring quality. The quality is actually the best promotion way there is, but quality is not everything. You should know that first of all you have to know what you want and then start building the Twitter account you want, building that might take some time.

1. Use a well developed description for your Twitter account – Even if it is small (160 characters), the description or Bio lets you to use the perfect phrase to describe yourself or your business. Submit your twitter profile in twitter web directories – Like I said earlier, you have to treat your Twitter profile like your website, and that includes the fact that your Twitter Profile page needs a page rank or high quality backlinks in order to get a better placement in the search engines like Google, Yahoo!, MSN and more…

3. Follow to get followed – This is still one of the great ways to get followers, but you should be interested in who you are following and it is better if the person you are following is in the same industry as you or with similar interests at least.

4. Post original updates – The unique and high quality content is essential in order to attract more followers.

5. Constant Tweeting – Update your Twitter profile regularly in order to make your followers get used to your Tweeting schedule.

These are the most important steps in my opinion and I believe that If you follow this 5 steps strictly, you will get the results that you want and you will be able to create a popular twitter profile and also generate income from it.
